5 Tips To Help Elevate Your Healing & Self-Care Journey

You don't have to go at your self-care journey alone!

The goal in me writing to you, dear reader, is to light a fire that encourages you to take inspired action. There is much talk these days of the necessity for healing & self-care. Now while I absolutely agree with these sentiments, I find that there still seems to be a bit of a gap in the execution for a lot of us (the first step is acknowledging it right?). I often sat at my laptop, much like I am now writing to you, and poured my attention into writing up notes for weekly or monthly goals I needed to achieve while, simultaneously, battling the inner turmoil of the 1000 other things I needed to get done. Life comes at you fast!...and from many directions. The best habit you can form is a regular self-care routine to help balance the 'hustle & bustle' of life. Self-Care helps facilitate regulated emotions and can help you heal from any unresolved traumas that could be stifling your progress. Trust me, you neeeeed  to carve out time for yourself.

"Easier said than done," as the old adage goes.

In the majority of cases, different forms of therapy are the go-to for unpacking or managing any of your wound up energy. You can seek professional therapy, but then, there's also retail therapy, gym therapy, art therapy and a slew of others. I myself provide a, sort of, body therapy in my self-created reiki practice called BOS Reiki™. I like to think of Self-Care as a type of personal energy maintenance therapy that allows you to be both the object of self-care and the deliverer. Since, in most cases, we arbitrarily act out self-care, not as a formal repeated process but, by making ourselves feel good in between the daily woes of life, committing to yourself is pivotal. This is a tough emotional roller-coaster to be on. Seeking temporary pleasure is beneficial only if these actions coincide with a regular practice of introspection & care that we actually look forward to. This process helps us grow rather than exclusively making us feel good.

Oh but there's a method to the madness.


The future of self-care will come with unique SYSTEMS of self-care. So, today, I have 5 tips based on the 5-point model I've derived from a unique meditation I crafted. These 5 tips will assist you in gaining greater clarity on how to go about bringing regular self-care into your life. This model gives you 5 five steps or checkpoints or gates, 5 fires that you must pass through and come out the greatest version of yourself, the phoenix from the ashes. TIP #1 - SPARK

The very first thing we should do is properly collect, capture and integrate any and all stimulus that causes us to feel anxious, afraid or reduces our confidence. You can't fix what you can't see. I find that meditation, introspection and regular self-talk are good options for drilling down into ourselves for growth. So, whether you are journaling regularly or just working to be more self-aware moment to moment, collecting the "data" of your own life is the first step in curating your healing and self-care routine.

TIP #2 - KINDLING

Next, we organize, store and synthesize the "data" we've collected from TIP #1. These stimuli can be from the past, present or future as well. A lot of times, healing from the past is the catalyst we need to move forward. Setting up different people places and things that are meant for certain parts of our self-care is very important. So, you may want to designate a particular journal for your thoughts, a particular person you trust to vent to and maybe even a particular place you go to recenter yourself. However you set this up, it's important for you to set up a semi-organized system to avoid overwhelming yourself with thoughts and emotions without somewhere to direct and hold them.

TIP #3 - SMOLDER

Now, we distill, refine and filter our experiences to ensure the next version of ourselves we present to the world is the best version. We cut away the parts of ourselves that are stagnate, allowing them to be transformed for greater use. We want to make sure that we are not denying or avoiding our issues but allowing space and time to feel process and adjust our lives according to our current needs and not past hurts.

TIP #4 - STOKE

In this step we emanate, pour and express the ideal, healed self out into the world. We wait until this step to set and express any affirming energy because we do not want any stowaways in the messages-in-a-bottle we send out to God - The Universe - Our Higher Power. I think this is a major stumbling block for a lot of people trying to manifest better results in their lives. Once we release the stressors of life within a uniquely curated self-care routine, what we have to offer the world becomes a pure fountain of you and your realized potential. This tip is pivotal because it involves regular acts of affirming your ideal reality out into the world through writing, speaking, serving, creating, etc.

TIP #5 - BOS Blue Fhenix

The last step asks us to direct, manage and aim our newfound peace and healing into the future, out in front of you with each step forward. Armed with a regular self-care routine, you are now able to pursue your passions and also manage the daily stressors of life. Rather than drudging from moment to moment at the effect of the winds of change, you are now the Fhenix risen from the ashes of stress, anxiety and pain upon the wings of healing and self-care.
